The oral exam in B1 Beruf includes an important task: the presentation. Here, candidates are expected to demonstrate their ability to clearly and structuredly present professional topics in German. This skill is essential in everyday work life and is therefore specifically tested in the exam.
Candidates usually choose a topic from given professional themes, such as career choice, job introduction, or career aspirations. The presentation lasts about two to three minutes and should have a clear structure: a brief introduction, a main part with key information, and a concluding ending.
The topics generally relate to the professional context and are designed to be practical. Examples include presenting one's own profession, reasons for choosing a career, or future professional goals. These examples help organize thoughts and prepare the talk well.
Many learners report that the presentation initially seems challenging but becomes manageable with targeted practice. “Preparing typical topics like career choice gave me confidence,” says Anna from Munich. Martin from Hamburg recommends practicing with friends and recording yourself to improve the presentation.
Language trainer Olena Bazalukova explains: “The oral presentation in B1 Beruf tests whether candidates can communicate professional topics clearly and structuredly. With regular practice and realistic topics, participants find it easier to present confidently and convincingly.”
In summary, the presentation is a central part of the B1 Beruf exam that, with good preparation, brings confidence and success.
