The Telc A2 exam is an internationally recognized language test for German learners at the elementary level. It assesses whether individuals are able to manage simple, clear communication in everyday situations. This exam is especially suitable for learners who want to demonstrate their basic skills – whether for personal, professional, or educational reasons. The tasks are practical and based on real-life communication scenarios.
The exam is developed and administered by Telc gGmbH, a non-profit organization. Telc stands for "The European Language Certificates" and offers language tests in over ten languages. Worldwide, certified test centers cooperate with Telc to ensure standardized exam administration.
This exam is intended for the following target groups:
The Telc A2 exam serves as an official proof of basic language skills. It may be required in various contexts – for example, when applying for training programs, at government offices, or as a milestone in a multi-stage learning process. It also offers a useful benchmark for self-assessment.
The Telc A2 exam consists of a written and an oral part:
The written tasks focus on understanding short texts, simple dialogues, and writing basic messages. The oral part tests the ability to talk about familiar topics in simple terms.
Compared to the A1 level, A2 requires a higher degree of independence. Participants are expected not only to understand individual words but to grasp coherent information. Conversations are more structured, and written expression is assessed with greater detail.
Each section of the exam is graded separately. To pass the exam overall, you must score at least 60% of the maximum points. The evaluation is done using objective, standardized criteria and provides a detailed breakdown of strengths and weaknesses.
Our expert Olena has guided German learners for many years on their path to language certification. As the founder of this platform, she has developed a comprehensive practice concept based on real exam situations. She works closely with German teachers and examiners from around the world to provide optimal preparation.
"At A2 level, it’s crucial to understand the exam language and recognize common task formats," explains Olena. "We combine targeted online exercises with clear solutions and real examples that help learners understand how the exam works."
Language coach Anja Wolf adds: "Learners benefit from regularly practicing short writing tasks, listening exercises, and role-play dialogues. This builds confidence for the actual exam."
Many participants have shared their positive experiences. "I knew exactly how the exam would go – that gave me confidence," writes Timur from Düsseldorf. Lara from Vienna says: "The commented solutions helped me understand my mistakes."
Our platform supports your preparation with practical tasks, step-by-step explanations, online tests, and many more materials to help you prepare for the A2 German exam – all aimed at increasing your chances of success.
Iren Zeibel: „I’m very happy that I found such a website. I have an exam soon and hope it will go well. I will recommend it to my friends. Thank you for being here.“
Andrii: „A great site where you can prepare for your German exam. I studied online with Olena to pass the exam, and it helped me a lot. Grammar was also explained in the integration courses, but Olena showed me how to actually pass the exam. As a result, I received a B1 certificate. Olena is a very good teacher – I can recommend her to everyone.“
Anna Chin: „Hello, from August to October I prepared for the B1 exam with Olena. As a result, I passed the exam and received my B1 certificate. I would like to say that the training with Olena gave me more knowledge than the courses, because during those months my listening, reading, and writing skills improved noticeably. Speaking, of course, depends on vocabulary, but we practiced dialogues and naturally spoke more together as well.“
